The Illinois State Fair Coliseum was a commercial project in Springfield, Illinois. Completed in 2019, the 44,900 sq. ft. plan had an estimated budget of $10,770,945.

Originally constructed in 1901 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, “The Coliseum of Champions” at the Illinois State Fairgrounds has hosted many events, including concerts, horse shows, presidential rallies, and more. However, after 115 years of use and after being deemed structurally unsafe in 2016, the Coliseum needed significant renovations and upgrades. Some of the upgrades completed included considerable masonry work to address the buildings’ structural instability and select interior renovations to address sustainability and accessibility. With construction completed in the summer of 2019, renovations of The Coliseum of Champions were finished just in time for the 2019 State Fair.MCC worked with the architect, Bailey Edward, and provided cost estimates beginning at schematic design through 100% construction documents. In addition to cost estimating, MCC assisted the architectural and engineering team with construction scheduling, phasing, and staging throughout the entire design phase.
